The fantastic first stage of the $14.6million Market to Riverbank link transformation is now complete.
Bank Street and Topham Mall North now feature upgraded streetscapes including new paving, lighting, trees, landscaping, street furniture, public art and exciting experiences to discover.
Some of the upgrades you’ll notice include:
Jason Sims is an emerging South Australian artist with international success in creating multi-media artworks. His new art, Golden Rhombohedron (Acute) mirrors and connects Bank and Pitt Streets together, as a way to signify the beginning and end destination of the Market to Riverbank link.
- Shared Zones
To create a more social and vibrant street, the road is now shared by pedestrians, cyclists and motorised traffic. Speed in shared zones is limited to 10km/h, and drivers and cyclists are expected to give way to pedestrians who are also responsible for allowing traffic to flow.
- Outdoor Dining and Activity Areas
There will be even more opportunities to grab a bite to eat, a coffee or a drink thanks to increased space for outdoor dining and pop-up activities. The enlarged dining areas will feature shady street trees, art and bespoke furniture.
- Loading Zones
There will continue to be four loading bays available along Bank Street. Loading is permitted any day between 8.00am – 8.00pm for a maximum of 30 minutes (unless otherwise indicated).
So grab a bite, a coffee or a few quiet drinks. Want more? The area offers evening dining, places to party, somewhere to stay and so much more.
